Typhoon Egay victims receive P287 million aid from DSWD, Romualdez
MANILA, Philippines — Residents in Northern and Central Luzon affected by Typhoon Egay (international name: Doksuri) have received P287 million worth of assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Romualdez said the cash assistance, relief goods, generators, and financial aid are from his personal funds and DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program.
Romualdez and the Tingog party-list facilitated the release of the AICS funds and relief to typhoon-hit victims.
“We hope the relief and financial aid we sent to our kababayan (fellow Filipinos) in the typhoon-stricken areas will help them recover from the calamity. It represents our commitment to assist our people in distress to the best extent we can,” the House leader said.
Last July 28, Romualdez also helped distribute aid to locals in Benguet province, as well as households in Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Cagayan, Apayao, Pangasinan, Pampanga, and Malolos City in Bulacan.
