MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Egay (international name: Doksuri) is now out of the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Thursday Egay left the PAR in the morning.

However, Egay’s scope will still impact most parts of Luzon; hence Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) will be maintained even if the typhoon is already outside the PAR.

Pagasa said TCWS No. 2 is still raised over Batanes; the northwestern portion of Cagayan (Claveria, Santa Praxedes), including the Babuyan Islands; and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte (Pagudpud, Adams, Bangui, Dumalneg, Burgos).

These areas are anticipated to experience winds raging from 62 to 88 kilometers per hour (kph) for at least 24 hours.

Seventeen areas will also remain under TCWS No. 1, Pagasa said. These are Pangasinan; La Union; Ilocos Sur; the rest of Ilocos Norte; the rest of Cagayan; Apayao; Kalinga; Mountain Province; Ifugao; Abra; Benguet; Isabela; Quirino; Nueva Vizcaya; northern portion of Aurora (Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dilasag); northern portion of Nueva Ecija (Cuyapo, Guimba, Pantabangan, Science City of Muñoz, Carranglan, San Jose City, Lupao, Nampicuan, Talugtug); and the northern portion of Tarlac (Paniqui, Moncada, Pura, Camiling, Ramos, San Manuel, Anao, San Clemente).

Egay’s center was last located 255 kilometers west of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kph with gustiness of up to 185 kph, the state weather bureau said.

The typhoon has also boosted the prevailing southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, on the other side of the country. The two weather disturbances reportedly left five people dead and affected more than 325,000 people, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council report on Thursday.
