Violence in school: Teen stabs classmate dead in Quezon City
MANILA, Philippines — A 13-year-old male student died after he was stabbed by a classmate inside Culiat High School in Quezon City on Friday morning.
In a report, the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) said the Grade 7 student, a native of Jolo, Sulu, was pronounced dead at 6:20 a.m. at the New Era General Hospital as he sustained a stab wound in the chest. The incident happened at 5:45 a.m. in the school’s hallway.
“Initial investigation disclosed that both minor victim and suspect were classmates and had a misunderstanding due to jealousy,” the NCRPO said.
Police also said the victim was a neighbor of the 15-year-old suspect, as both were residents of the same compound in Barangay Culiat, Quezon City.
The suspect, according to authorities, immediately fled after stabbing the victim. But he was eventually located and is now under the custody of police as a child in conflict with the law.
