Tarlac’s active COVID-19 cases down by over 800 in a week

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — Tarlac province had a significant downtrend in COVID-19 cases after its active cases went down by 812 within a week, data from the provincial government showed.

Its 1,1742 active cases on Oct. 5 were reduced to only 930 on Tuesday, Oct. 12.

The provincial government also recorded 35 new cases, 78 recoveries and zero deaths on Tuesday.

The youngest among the new cases is a 4-year-old boy from Capas town, while the oldest is an 86-year-old woman from Victoria town.

Tarlac City, the provincial capital, remains the most active cases at 257, followed by Capas with 115, and Camiling and Paniqui towns with 76 each.

Since the pandemic began last year, the province has registered 16,960 COVID-19 cases, of which 15,370 have recovered while 660 have died.

As of Oct. 11, some 510,318 or 48.5 percent of Tarlac’s 1,052,419 target population had been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Of these, at least 319,419 comprising 30.6 percent of the eligible residents have been fully inoculated while 243,125 or 23.1 percent of the target have received the first dose of the vaccine and are still waiting for their second dose.

Tarlac intends to inoculate some 70 percent of its total population of around 1,503,456 based on the 2020 census.
