Speaker’s office, Tingog Party-list send aid to Zambales flood victims
In the face of disastrous floods caused by Tropical Storm “Dodong,” the offices of Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez and Tingog Party-list Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez and Jude Acidre once again joined forces to extend a helping hand to Filipinos in need. Despite the challenging weather conditions, dedicated volunteers from these offices ventured out to deliver relief packs to affected families in Masinloc and Palauig, Zambales.
To ensure efficient distribution of aid, the team collaborated with the office of Zambales 2nd district Rep. Doris Maniquiz. This partnership facilitated the smooth and organized delivery of assistance to the affected communities. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Speaker Romualdez emphasized the importance of swift action during times of disaster. “There is practically no time to lose during disasters like typhoons and floods. We will do our best to help respond to your needs as we monitor the situation with other authorities. This assurance is not only for the people in Zambales but also for Filipinos affected by Dodong in other areas,” Speaker Romualdez stated.
Over the course of the relief operation, which took place from Saturday to Sunday, a total of 441 relief packs were distributed to six barangays in Masinloc, while 1,217 relief packs were provided to eight barangays in Palauig. The coordination of Vice Mayor Doris Ladines-Botolan played a vital role in successfully carrying out the relief drive.
In Masinloc, the two most populous evacuation centers, Collat Integrated School in Barangay Collat (serving 1,324 families) and Sta. Rita Elementary School (assisting 1,063 families), received the bulk of the aid. In Palauig, where covered courts were used as temporary shelters, the highest number of evacuees were recorded in Barangay Sto. Tomas (comprising 290 families) and Barangay Liozon (with 250 families).
Recognizing the arduous process of recovery that lies ahead for the flood victims, the office of Speaker Romualdez and Tingog Party-list have committed to maintaining close coordination with local officials. By staying informed about the evolving needs of the affected communities, they aim to provide ongoing support and assistance as the affected individuals strive to rebuild their lives.
The joint efforts of Speaker Romualdez’s office and Tingog Party-list serve as a testament to their unwavering commitment to the welfare of the Filipino people. By promptly responding to the immediate needs of flood victims and pledging continued assistance, they demonstrate the true spirit of solidarity and compassion, fostering hope and resilience in the face of adversity.
