Quezon town mayor’s teen son dead in 3-vehicle collision
LUCENA CITY––The teenage son of the mayor of Lucban town in Quezon province died, and another was wounded in a crash Monday night involving two motorcycles and a truck, police said Tuesday.
The Lucban police reported that a truck, driven by Brian Abana, bumped Guitahm Oli Dator, 17, and Sydney Mykel Saliendra, 20, who were riding separate motorcycles on a convoy at an intersection at the town center around 9:40 p.m.
The victims suffered grave injuries and were taken to the MMG Hospital in the town.
In a phone interview, Executive Master Sergeant Erwin Bebida, case investigator, said Dator died at 12:46 a.m. Tuesday while undergoing treatment.
He said Saliendra remained in serious condition.
The police report said Dator had no driver’s license.
Abana was detained and is facing criminal charges.
Mayor Olivier Dator posted a grieving message on his Facebook on the untimely death of his son after the recent demise of his own mother.
“Masakit po Lord, bago pa lang po kami nakakarecover sa pagkawala ni Mama. Hindi ko po alam kung ano ang gagawin. Sobrang sakit po ng aking nararamdaman,” Dator’s post said.
(It is painful, Lord. We have just recovered from the loss of Mama. I don’t know what I should do. What I am feeling is very painful.)
