QC to continue bus service program
MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government has begun to systematize the city’s bus service program, possibly starting a self-sustaining and easier-to-manage city or municipal service in the country.
Councilor Alfred Vargas thanked Mayor Joy Belmonte and his colleagues in the city council for passing the “Q City Bus Program’’ that he proposed.
The service is currently free and offers eight routes in the city with free Wi-Fi and air conditioning.
Belmonte started the service during the pandemic lockdown in 2020 and has so far provided 12 million free rides in the city.
Quezon City residents hailed the program which can be turned into a regular operation that can be more profitable for drivers as well as safer and cheaper for commuters.
