The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Thursday morning that this situation is expected to trigger rain in parts of Luzon.

It said that cloudy skies and scattered thunderstorms are anticipated to prevail in Metro Manila, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Central Luzon, Cagayan Valley, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

“Sa ngayon, dahil sa habagat, asahan pa rin ang mga pag-ulan over Zambales, Bataan, at malaking bahagi ng Ilocos Region, occasional rains or paminsan-minsan na pag-ulan. Mag-ingat rin po sa pagbaha at pagguho ng lupa,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja also said in a public forecast.

(For now, due to the southwest monsoon, expect rains over Zambales, Bataan, and large parts of the Ilocos Region, occasional rains. Also, be careful of flooding and landslides.)

Pagasa also raised a gale warning over coastal waters of Batanes, the northern coast of Ilocos Norte and Cagayan, and the Babuyan Islands. It advised fishing boats not to set sail.

In contrast, the state weather bureau said the Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao may anticipate fair and humid weather today, August 3.

Falcon left the PAR on Tuesday, August 1. It is currently located between southern Japan and China, Pagasa noted.
