Babuyan Islands no longer under Signal No. 5 as Egay moves on.

MANILA, Philippines — The Babuyan Islands in Northern Luzon are no longer under Signal No. 5  as Super Typhoon Egay (international name: Doksuri) moves over the coast of Calayan, Cagayan, according to 11 p.m. Tuesday bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Violent” weather would still affect the eastern part of the Babuyan Islands, in which Egay is expected to make landfall in 12 hours.

Egay was last spotted moving west-northwest at 10 kph with maximum sustained winds of 175 kph and a gustiness of up to 240 kph.

Pagasa said Egay would likely turn northwest or north northwest and pass over the waters south or southwest of Taiwan.

It is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday morning and make landfall in the vicinity of Fujian, China, on Friday morning.
