Man goes on shooting spree, hurts two at QC resto-bar
MANILA, Philippines — A 31-year-old man claiming to be a volunteer medic of the Quezon City government has been arrested after hurting two people while on a shooting spree at a resto-bar.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the suspect as Jerome Gara, who was apprehended by members of the Fairview Police Station during a follow-up operation.
In a report released Tuesday, the QCPD said the incident happened on July 3 at Grill Master Restobar along Regalado Avenue. A witness told investigators that Gara suddenly drew a gun and opened fire, which eventually injured Ariel Rullan and Dominic John Hugo, and immediately fled the scene using his car.
Police said the victims sustained wounds in the abdomen, thighs, and feet.
The witness and the victims consequently sought the Fairview Police Station’s help to find and arrest Gara.
Authorities captured Gara, who yielded one pistol, a magazine, 10 fired cartridges of .9mm bullets, and six pieces of .9mm live ammunition, hours after the incident.
The QCPD said complaints of frustrated murder and illegal possession of firearms will be filed against Gara, who they found to be a “fraud QC medic.”
