Typhoon Falcon has gone out of PAR, says Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Falcon (international name: Khanun) is now outside Philippine area of responsibility, state meteorologists announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Falcon went out of PAR at around 3:30 pm, based on the latest update from Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa).

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 may be raised in Batanes due to Typhoon Falcon (international name: Khanun), which could transform into a super typhoon outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), state meteorologists said on Tuesday.

MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Falcon (international name: Khanun) continues to enhance the southwest monsoon or “habagat” triggering rains over Luzon and parts of the Visayas, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres, in a Monday afternoon update, said Falcon was last spotted some 1,020 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 165 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 205 kph.

MANILA, Philippines — Severe Tropical Storm Falcon (international name: Khanun) has intensified into a typhoon as it moved north-northwestward over the Philippine Sea on Sunday evening, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 11 p.m. bulletin.

Falcon was moving at 15 kph and was last monitored 1,090 km east of extreme Northern Luzon. It had maximum sustained winds of 140 kph and gusts of up to 170 kph.

Severe Tropical Storm Falcon (international name: Khanun) has intensified while moving north over the Philippine Sea but may leave the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) by Monday evening, the state weather bureau said on Sunday.

In its 5:00 p.m. update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that Falcon was tracked some 1,170 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Floodwaters submerged roads and houses in several areas in this province and nearby Olongapo City due to incessant rains brought by the southwest monsoon which is now being strenghtened by severe tropical storm “Falcon” (international name: Khanun).

The whole Barangay (village) San Miguel in this town looked like a river on Sunday morning (July 30) due to widespread flooding. The water reached waist-high and entered many houses.

MANILA, Philippines — Flooding may hit low-lying areas of Metro Manila and Central Luzon on Sunday due to the combined effects of southwest monsoon “habagat” and severe tropical storm Falcon (international name: Khanun), the state weather bureau said on Sunday.

In its 8 a.m. heavy rainfall advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) placed Metro Manila, Bataan, and Zambales (San Marcelino, San Felipe, San Narciso, San Antonio, Castillejos, Subic, and Olongapo) under “yellow” warning.

MANILA, Philippines – A tropical storm east of the Philippines was drawing seasonal rain clouds into the country on Saturday and threatened more flooding and landslides over the next three days as provinces devastated by Typhoon Egay (international name: Doksuri) were still trying to recover.

A “generally higher” rainfall is expected over mountainous areas of the country as Tropical Storm Falcon (international name: Khanun), continues to enhance the southwest monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Falcon (international name: Khanun) has intensified while accelerating northwest over the Philippine Sea and may develop into a typhoon by Sunday, the state weather bureau said Saturday.

In its Saturday afternoon bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the eye of Falcon was last plotted some 1,205 kilometers east of Central Luzon, and increased its maximum sustained winds from 65 kilometers per hour (kph) to 75 kph,  gustiness from 80 kph to 90 kph while moving north at 20 kph from 10 kph hours earlier.

The tropical storm with the international name Khanun has entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) and was given the local name Falcon, said the state weather bureau.

Khanun was last located 1,245 kilometers east northeast of southeastern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) with gustiness of 80 kph, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa) Friday bulletin.
