Farmer dead in Quezon road mishap

All sea travels in Quezon province were suspended on Monday (Feb. 27) due to a gale warning over the eastern seaboards of Luzon brought by the strong northeast monsoon locally known as "amihan."

LUCENA CITY – A farmer died after he was hit Wednesday by a wayward van in Padre Burgos town in Quezon province.

The Quezon police said in a report Thursday, March 16, that Amado Umali and Bienvenido Saldua were standing at 11:15 a.m. at the rear of a parked truck on the roadside in Barangay Danlagan.

Innova van driven by Alain Daclis bumped the duo after he lost control of the vehicle and occupied the opposite lane, the report said.

The victims suffered grave injuries and were taken to MMG Hospital in Lucena City, but Casilag died on the way there.
