Driver dead, 11 passengers hurt in Cavite road mishap
LUCENA CITY A – A driver died and his 11 passengers were injured on Monday, July 3, after he lost control of his vehicle and hit a dump truck in Silang town in Cavite province.
The Region 4A police reported that Kenneth Macahipay was driving a Hyundai H-100 light truck with 11 passengers on board at 4:10 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle along the Aguinaldo highway in Barangay Biga-1.
The wayward vehicle consequently fell on its side, slid, occupied the opposite lane and crashed into an oncoming dump truck driven by Allan Joseph Velando.
Macahipay and his passengers suffered injuries and were taken to the Estrella Hospital in the locality, but he was declared dead on arrival.
Velando is under police custody while an investigation continues.
