BOC intercepts P4.4 million worth of smuggled cigarettes, van
MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has impounded 8,200 reams of various brands of cigarettes, and a closed van totaling around P4.4 million.
The BOC said in a report Wednesday that it seized the smuggled cigarettes and vehicle at a checkpoint in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat.
It also said that their operation was conducted jointly with the Philippine Army’s 603rd Brigade and 37th Infantry Battalion and the Philippine National Police’s regional maritime unit.
District Collector Guillermo Pedro Francia IV promptly issued a Warrant of Seizure and Detention against the cigarettes and van for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
