MANILA, Philippines — An alleged financial supporter of a local terrorist organization was arrested in Lanao del Norte last August 1, police said on Thursday.

Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) identified the suspect as 33-year-old Fahad Makil Lumiguis.

Lumiguis allegedly belongs to Daulah Islamiya-Maute group.

He is in the Wanted list of authorities for a series of kidnapping charges and other crimes.

AKG director Brigadier General Rodolfo Castil Jr. said Lumiguis was caught by AKG’s Mindanao Field Unit and PNP Special Action Force following an extensive intelligence operation in barangay Basagad, Balo-i town.

“Na-aresto namin [siya] through a warrant of arrest for kidnapping, violation of Republic Act 9165 (the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), R.A. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act),” Castil told reporters.

Aside from these offenses, Lumiguis is also the primary suspect in the killing of Abdul Hamid Racman Usman at Upper Payawan, barangay Sarip Alawi.

He is also said to be behind the death of Choneth Ann Cortez Ballesta of Iligan City.

Furthermore, the suspect was also linked to an abduction in October last year in Tagum city, Davao del Norte.

He was tagged in a carnapping case in June this year as well.
