MANILA, Philippines — Nineteen road sections in various parts of Luzon were closed to traffic due to the effects of Typhoon Egay (international name: Doksuri), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported on Sunday.
Based on its 6 a.m. situational report, the DPWH said that 10 road sections are impassable in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), four in Region 1 (Ilocos Region), and five in Region 3 (Central Luzon).
The agency said five road sections in Central Luzon were closed due to “soil collapse, fallen trees, damaged bridge, soil erosion, road cut, damaged slope protection, eroded carriageway, landslide, scoured bridge abutment, rockslide, flooding or high water elevation.”
On the other hand, five roads in CAR, Ilocos, and Central Luzon have limited access due to soil collapse, landslides, and flooding.
Meanwhile, national roads and bridges in other affected regions are passable to all vehicles as of July 30.
Earlier, DPWH said it had started clearing roads and bridges, installing warning signs, and monitoring highways and bridges in provinces hit by Egay.
