Aerospace Engineering student from Tagbilaran is Miss Bohol 2023
TAGBILARAN CITY – Kyra Rei Hopkins of this city was crowned Miss Bohol 2023 at the Bohol Wisdom gymnasium on Saturday.
Hopkins, who was first runner-up in Miss Mandaue 2023, is a second year college student at Indiana Aerospace University, taking up Aerospace Engineering.
The Miss Bohol pageant, the official search for the province’s ambassadress of goodwill, is part of the Sandugo Festival celebration.
The 21-year-old beauty who bested other 19 candidates, was also named Darling of the Press, Best in Closed-door Interview, and Best in Evening Gown.
Inabanga’s Apple Mae Añana was named first runner-up, while Trinidad’s Rose Jane Israel clinched second runner-up honors.
Miss Panglao Sheila Fraser was named third runner-up while Miss Lila Trisha Libres was fourth runner-up.
The Miss Bohol pageant was called off in 2020, 2021 and 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tagbilaran City Mayor Jane Yap lauded the newly-crowned beauty queen.
“This remarkable journey has been defined by our shared vision, tireless efforts, and a commitment to pushing boundaries. We have shattered records, defied expectations, and set new standards that will inspire generations to come. This success is a testament to the unrivaled talent, passion, and resilience that resides within our team,” Yap said in a Facebook post.
“Together, we have scaled the pinnacle of success not just once, but thrice. Let this remarkable achievement be a catalyst for even greater accomplishments in the future. As we bask in the glory of this moment, let us remain steadfast in our pursuit of excellence, always striving to surpass our own benchmarks, and setting new records,” she added.
Miss Bohol started in 1955 and since then it has taken on the task of promoting Bohol as a tourist destination.
Notable alumni are Miss Bohol Sandugo 2005 Anna Maris Igpit who became Bb. Pilipinas-World 2006 and Miss Bohol 2017 Pauline Amelinckx who recently won as Miss Supranational 2023 first runner-up.
